Interest rate fixation

The bank's commitment to hold the agreed interest rate for an agreed period (typically 1, 3, 5, 7, or 10 years). After fixation ends, the rate changes — either by refixation with the existing bank or refinancing with another. Fixation length is a strategic choice: shorter = flexibility, longer = certainty.
