Every article and glossary entry goes through the same steps: a draft, a fact check, a language edit and an automated check that blocks publication if the text breaks the rules. This page explains how we work and what you can expect from us.
Who is behind the content
The site is run by the team behind novostavby.com. We are not a bank or a mortgage broker, we don't collect contact details and we earn no commission from links to banks.
We draft texts with the help of AI tools. They don't decide the facts: every number has to rest on a primary source or on a calculation whose assumptions are stated in the text.
Where the numbers come from
- average rate on mortgages actually signed: ČBA Hypomonitor;
- advertised bank rates: Swiss Life Hypoindex and bank price lists;
- the repo rate and the LTV, DTI and DSTI rules: the Czech National Bank (ČNB);
- laws as currently in force, mainly the Consumer Credit Act, the Civil Code and the Income Tax Act;
- statistics: the Czech Statistical Office, the land registry (ČÚZK) and the Ministry of Finance.
Each article lists its sources at the end. Model repayments use the standard annuity formula, and every example states the loan amount, rate and term.
How a text gets through the editorial process
- The draft follows our style guide, which sets the tone, the structure and the phrases we don't use.
- Fact check: any claim that isn't in our internal database of verified facts is checked against primary sources. If something can't be verified, we either qualify it or leave it out.
- A separate language edit for Czech, Slovak, English, Russian and Ukrainian. The language versions are not machine translations; they are adapted for people who live in Czechia and are buying a home here.
- An automated pre-publication check looks for known false claims (such as a non-existent CZK 50,000 cap on early repayment fees), banned phrases and typography, and confirms that no number or link was lost or changed during editing. A text that fails is not published.
Updates
Market figures are refreshed after every ČBA Hypomonitor release, and the calculators pick up the current rate automatically. Every article gets a full review at least once every six months. We change the "Updated" date only when the content changes, not for cosmetic edits.
Corrections
We fix errors as soon as we find them, in all languages at once, and log each correction with its date and a description. We never quietly change a number that readers may have relied on.
What our texts are not
The articles explain the rules and work through model situations. They are not a loan offer, nor individual financial, tax or legal advice. The final terms are set by the bank based on your circumstances.
