Czech mortgage glossary
Fixation period
The period during which the mortgage interest rate is unchanged. Most often 3, 5, 7, or 10 years. After fixation ends, the bank offers a new rate — which may be higher or lower. A shorter fixation usually has a lower rate but more risk of change at refixation. A longer fixation provides certainty but typically at a higher cost.
