Czech mortgage glossary

Insolvency

A state in which a debtor is unable to repay their obligations. The insolvency register is public — banks check it for every applicant. An active insolvency (whether personal bankruptcy or debt-relief) almost always means mortgage rejection. After debt-relief ends (typically 5 years), the situation gradually improves, but the bank will be cautious for several more years.
